The combination of cup and plate for serving a soft-boiled egg is based on a design by Silvio Germann for the Mammertsberg restaurant and hotel. I believe that the same considerations that apply to a hotel also meet the demands of home use and give the egg the value it deserves.
This variant is a mixture of 98% porcelain and 2% stoneware and was fired in an electric kiln at 1,275 degrees Celsius. This gives it its beige color, which is slightly darker than classic porcelain due to the addition of red stoneware. The black specks are tiny iron pyrites completely embedded in the porcelain.

Porcelain is a natural product and is processed by Cornelia Hofstetter according to pure craftsmanship principles. Slight variations in shape and size, as well as features that emphasise its naturalness and traces of the manufacturing process, are desirable characteristics.
