The combination of a cup and plate for serving soft-boiled eggs was inspired by a design for Silvio Germann's Mammertsberg restaurant and hotel. I believe that the same considerations that apply to a hotel also meet the requirements of home use and give the egg the value it deserves.
This version is a mixture of 98% porcelain and 2% stoneware and was fired in an electric kiln at 1,275 degrees Celsius. This gives it its beige colour, which is slightly darker than classic porcelain due to the addition of red stoneware. The black dots are small iron pyrites that are completely enclosed in the porcelain.
