The unglazed, matte porcelain has a very unique look, which is why I left the rim of this plate a little wider. It still offers plenty of surface area for all sorts of things.
It consists of a mixture of 98% porcelain and 2% stoneware and was fired in an electric kiln at 1,275 degrees Celsius. This gives it its beige color, which is slightly darker than classic porcelain due to the addition of red stoneware. The black specks are tiny iron pyrites completely embedded in the porcelain.

Porcelain is a natural product and is processed by Cornelia Hofstetter according to pure craftsmanship principles. Slight variations in shape and size, as well as features that emphasise its naturalness and traces of the manufacturing process, are desirable characteristics.
